Just inside the borders of Washington DC is the neighborhood of Chevy Chase, DC which was founded and developed about the same time as Chevy Chase, MD, circa 1890, as a result the names of the two cities are the same. Chevy Chase offers some of the same draws and attractions as Bethesda, which is located directly to the west and is in walking or biking distance. Located just across the state line into Washington DC is a high-end shopping and retail district called Mazza Gallerie and Chevy Chase Pavilion.

Much of the Chevy Chase Real Estate is older homes with a classic or even stately colonial feel. In addition, bungalows and cape cods are also prevalent and can be found scattered around town.
