The Bethesda real estate market sits just across the Washington DC state line with the majority of the city inside the Capitol Beltway and is bordered by the Potomac river to the South, Chevy Chase to the East and the city of Potomac to the West. Close-in Bethesda offers residents a short commute into DC by car or metro rail as well as easy access to I-495 and I-270.

Although much of Bethesda is residential, many people are drawn to Bethesda because of the quaint ‘city like’ feel of the downtown area. Most of what is considered Downtown Bethesda runs along Wisconsin Avenue as it makes its way toward DC. This area is made up of popular restaurants, retail shopping, high end hotels, commercial buildings and high-rise condos. Bethesda is also home to an active night life for young people and professionals alike with the opportunity for a quick jaunt to downtown DC just a 15 minute cab ride away.

The remaining parts of the Bethesda real estate community are residential areas consisting of neighborhoods, places of worship and schools with a handful of Country Clubs scattered in between. Historic Glen Echo Park is just one example and is located in Glen Echo steps from the C&O canal and operates a vintage carousel that was built there in 1921.

The National Institute of Health and Bethesda Naval Hospital are also located next to downtown. Most of the downtown area is walkable, especially in the summer when evenings are bussling with restaurant goers and families out for a great evening.

The real estate is highly desirable with Bethesda MD homes having some of the highest prices in the area. Notable neighborhoods are Edgemoor, Kenwood Park, Bradley Hills Grove and Glen Echo, but there are many more. In addition, Bethesda school’s are probably the most desirable in the suburban Maryland area.
