Located just beyond Bethesda, lies the Avenel real estate community.

Developed mostly in the 1980’s, this community consists of over 1,000 acres of rolling hills, and always ranks high for desirable places to live in the metro Washington DC area.  Made up of predominantly brick, stucco and stone luxury homes as well as townhomes, there is a diversitiy of architecture to be found.   Depending on what enclave of homes you visit within Avenel you could find what has been described by some  as ‘Georgian’,  ‘Old World’ ,‘City Homes’ and ‘Estate Homes’.

One thing all of the Avenel MD homes have in common is that they all have a quality and custom feel.   There are approximately 900 homes in the community and prices for most of the townhomes start above $1,000,000 but there are some that can be had for under that price.  Single family homes range from just over 1 million to approximately  9 million depending on its location within the community and its size.

The different neighborhoods within the community are know as “Villages” and the Community Association states that there are fourteen different villages, with each one offering something a little different than the next.  Whether you want a large custom townhome that overlooks golf fairways or greens, or if it’s privacy you desire, you can find homes on two acre plus lots backing to park land, preserve or golf course views.

Residents report a family friendly neighborhood with lots to do including a community center and swim and tennis club, not to mention miles of sidewalks and a park. Driving through Avenel’s well manicured streets, it’s obvious that this neighborhood is an outdoor paradise with large sidewalks, beautiful custom street lights, horse country style wooden fencing, stone columns and fencing and lush plantings.

This area is also home to the PGA Tour’s TPC at Avenel, a professionally designed and maintained golf course which flows through the neighborhoods rolling hills.  In addition to golf, a focal point of the community is an equestrian center of horse stables and riding fascilities with a bridle path through the wooded parts of the community and a swim and tennis club.
